The maize that is used to make Guatemala’s tortillas is known for being extra pure, and is combined with lime juice while cooking. This piece is inspired by the scorching hot tortillas in the middle of a lively and vibrant street market in the middle of Antigua.
"Maize Tortilla Press" is a mixed media original in 13" x 15" frame with matte. The piece was framed by a local, family-owned business in Greenville, SC.
From wax pastels to graphite, I play with various materials to bring the images and experiences from my time in Guatemala to life. These original studies give me the opportunity to play with pattern, an area I really love.
