Almost six months ago, I left my day job to chase a dream. A dream entailing a life as an artist in the South Carolina lowcountry. The creative energy that flows wildly through the historic streets of Charleston did nothing but propel me to take a deep breath, hitch a ride and hold on for dear life. In almost no time, I discovered the best part of this journey is the people. Plain and simple. I really believe that once you start following your passion, incredible people and opportunities are placed in your path.
I was so moved to find my path was full of new and old friends waiting to generously dedicate a chunk of their creative energy to my cause. Let me begin with Delaney Maher. An all-star creative jellybean. I picked this invaluable friend up on an around the world adventure during college and knew at some point our creativity would lead to a future business or collaboration of sorts. Delaney resides in Venice Beach, California, loves a good seafood burrito + Corona, has a killer new company called Mean Cuisine, and is an expert on branding, design, websites and more. She is the reason my journey has wheels. My path soon gained some Latin flavor and cha-cha when Irene Coto, another partner in crime from college, landed smack dab in the middle. Irene's family has been in the coffee business for over a century and after a short catch-up phone call we were collaborating on coffee blends & packaging. Shortly after, the idea came to life and found its way to my doorstep. This incredible experience with Irene taught me the extent to which I love collaboration because it allows for everyone to bring something they love to the table - creating a powerful cloud of energy and talents.
When you think things can't get any better, life likes to throw you chance meetings with inspiring individuals and opportunities like helping out with the South Beach Food & Wine Festival from Charleston (what!). I have learned the importance of grabbing life by the horns and the true meaning of "rolling with it." So, I am going to keep rolling on and working hard. Please know that your constant support, generosity, and love is the propelling force behind me. Very. Very. Thankful. Big ole' cheers to living what you love.
